The Origins of Anti-Mexican Sentiment in the United States
Paredes, Raymund
New Scholar, 6, 139-65, 77

These prejudices were combined with false preconceptions about Latin American natives. Consequently, 19th century American explorers in the Southwest automatically disliked Mexicans.
