Explaining Premarital Sexual Intercourse among College Students: A Causal Model
Schulz, Barbara; And Others
Social Forces, 56, 1, 148-65, Sep 77
Using a model based on opportunity, this article analyzes premarital sexual activity among college students. It notes that the incidence of premarital sex in the late 1960's was a product of peer influences and structural opportunities (provided through off campus residence, dating frequency, and fraternity/ sorority membership) and not only of religious values and courtship patterns.
