Behavioral Alternatives to the Drug Control of Hyperactive Children in the Classroom
Ayllon, Teodoro; Rainwater, Nancy
School Psychology Digest, 5, 4, 33-9, F 76
The author contends that the application of structure and reinforcement will effectively eliminate hyperactivity in most classrooms. If these procedures do not work it is very likely that the child does not have the component skills necessary for completing the academic materials. In this case, it is probably best to keep the hyperactive child on medication for a period of time during which the teacher can shape, or teach, the child the necessary basic skills. (Author/MV)
