Psychological Reward Values Associated with Wilderness Use: A Functional-Reinforcement Approach
Rossman, Betty B.; Ulehla, Z. Joseph
Environment and Behavior, 9, 1, 41-66, Mar 77
Investigated were the functions (particularly in meeting individual human needs) that wilderness areas serve in their undeveloped state. Undergraduate students (94) were administered four questionnaries dealing with various aspects of the rewards associated with wilderness enjoyment. Results suggest that there are valued rewards which are highly expected only in natural settings. (CS)
