Black-White Differences in the Educational Attainment Process
Kerckhoff, Alan C.; Campbell, Richard T.
Sociology of Education, 50, 1, 15-27, Jan 77
The five-stage multivariate "Wisconsin model" was used to explain comparative educational and occupational attainment of blacks and whites in a sample of boys studied in 1969 and again in 1974. Socioeconomic status has little explanatory power for blacks. Ambition and high school performance are stronger predictors of attainment for blacks than whites. (Author/AV)
