From School Girl to Mother: The Effects of Education on Navajo Women

An analysis of data collected from a sample of 23 Navajo women educated in reservation schools and living with their families in an urban area from 1970 to 1972 which focuses on the effect of their schooling on their personal adjustment and their roles as mothers, and which finds that the educational experiences encountered in middle childhood have detrimentally affected their adult self esteem and maternal attitudes.
