Sex-Role Stereotyping Is Alive and Well in Sixth-Graders
Crow, Mary Lynn; Taebel, Kay
Elementary School Journal, 76, 6, 359-364, Mar 76
In this study, sixth-grade children responded to nouns and verbs that describe different occupations and activities by labeling them as M (male), F (female), or B (both). Results indicated that children think of jobs and activities as appropriate for one sex or the other, rather than for both men and women. (SB)
