Results of a study examining the relationship of personality characteristics, academic ability, and achievement among pairs of male dormitory roommates suggest that personality may have a differential effect on achievement among students of different ability levels, e.g. low-ability students may earn higher grades when paired with high-ability students of similar personality profiles.
