Racial and Class Prejudice: Their Relative Effects on Protest Against School Desegregation
Giles, Michael; And Others
American Sociological Review, 41, 2, 280-288, Apr 76
Tests the relative effects of both class prejudice and racial prejudice upon behavioral protest against public school desegregation, using data drawn from a survey of parents of school children in seven desegregating county school districts; it is found that among those high on both education and income, class prejudice is operative, whereas, for the rest of the sample, race prejudice is operative.
