The African Diaspora in Mexico, Brazil, and the United States
Van Den Berghe, Pierre L.
Social Forces, 54, 3, 530-545, Mar 76
Central question addressed is why people of African descent show different rates of acculturation and different degrees of racial distinctiveness in Mexico, Brazil and the United States. Acculturation is greater in Mexico and the U.S. than in Brazil. Mexico makes the least racial distinctions, the U.S. the most, and Brazil is in between. (Author/AM)
