Adjustment, Pollyannaism, and Attraction to Close Relationships
Scott, William A.; Peterson, Christopher
Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, 43, 6, 872-880, Dec 75
The following two main hypotheses were tested: a) personal adjustment is associated with liking for close, personal relationships; and b) apparent adjustment is a manifestation of a test-taking style of favorable self-presentation. Data obtained from college students in three cultures tended to support the first interpretation best and the second the least. (Author/SE)
