The purpose of this study was to determine the relative importance of variables surrounding (1) illegitimacy and (2) the time interval between unwed motherhood and subsequent marriage. The factors found to be related significantly to illegitimacy were age at marriage, educational attainment, father's social status, husband's social status, and mobility. (Author)
