The Lived Experiences of International Students in a CACREP Counseling Program
Lertora, Ian M.; Croffie, Alexis L.
International Journal for the Advancement of Counselling, v42 n2 p174-190 Jun 2020
The researchers qualitatively explored the shared experiences of six international students in a CACREP accredited counseling program. Using the protocol outlined by Huberman and Miles (1994) to analyze phenomenological data, seven well-supported themes emerged with implications for counseling programs that have international students. Implications include, but are not limited to: recommendations regarding advising, faculty availability, importance of having knowledge about visa restrictions, and the necessity of developing a sense of community amongst counseling students.
