Teaching Mathematics Masterfully: Instructional Self-Regulation in Two PAEMST Finalists
Schneider, Melissa Peterson
Curriculum and Teaching Dialogue, v20 n1-2 19-34 2018
In this phenomenological study, two finalists for the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) are interviewed with the objective of uncovering their instructional self-regulation experiences and processes. Both finalists teach in a school where the majority of students come from poverty and approximately half are learning English. This study reveals common lived experiences about the participants' use of self-regulation processes to provide highly effective mathematics instruction.
