Understanding the Research Engagement of Teachers in Three Urban High Schools
Petretti, Dante P.
Curriculum and Teaching Dialogue, v20 n1-2 p15-29 2018
Research-engaged teachers (RET) are those who participate in three research activities: reading research, conducting research, and data collection, analysis, and use. In this study, I describe the perceptions and attitudes of this often-overlooked teacher population by highlighting the intrinsic and extrinsic motivations to become and remain research engaged, teachers current level of participation in these research activities, and the ways that the RETs manage the facilitators and barriers to these activities that they encounter in their work.
