Investigating the Practical Intention to Maintain Lesson Momentum: Implications for Teacher Education
Zimmerman, Aaron Samuel
Curriculum and Teaching Dialogue, v19 n1-2 p53-69 2017
The practical intention to maintain lesson momentum is prominent in the classroom thinking of preservice and early-career teachers. This article presents two studies, both of which employed stimulated recall interviews to investigate teachers' in-the-moment classroom thinking. The results of these studies suggest that both preservice and early-career teachers consider ways to maintain lesson momentum while teaching and, furthermore, that this practical intention can influence the enactment of alternative instructional goals.
