Smith, Molly
Curriculum and Teaching Dialogue, v21 n1-2 p65-80 2019
This phenomenological study explores the meaning that those who feel called to teach make out of their adjunct teaching experience in higher education. Five essential themes emerged as characterizing the phenomenon including (a) enjoyment, (b) alignment, (c) significance, (d) connection, and (e) commitment. The findings provide insight regarding the call to teach for adjunct faculty members and have implications for professional development for adjunct faculty.
