Actual and Perceived Attitudes of Late Adolescents and Their Parents: The Phenomenon of the Generation Gaps

Adolescents (N=78) and a sample of parents (N=50) evaluated 36 questionnaire items in terms of (1) their own attitudes, (2) their perceptions of their peers' attitudes, and (3) their perceptions of the alternative family members' attitudes. Results indicated differences in attitude intensity rather than direction between the two generational groups, and seriously mispercieved extensiveness of divisions between them. (Author/ED)
