The Power of Primary Sources in the Community College Context
Langan, Elise
Community College Enterprise, v25 n1 p50-58 Spr 2019
The purpose of this study was to determine the impact on community college students when they designed their lesson plans using primary sources. Preservice teachers were provided resources from Waynesburg University's "Teaching with Primary Sources" initiative and given instruction on how to navigate the Library of Congress's Teachers page. Students were allotted 15 minutes to demonstrate their sample lessons. Assessment was based upon the degree to which the lessons were student centered. Students were asked to reflect on how primary sources informed their practice.
