5 Questions PLCs Should Ask to Promote Equity
Fisher, Douglas; Frey, Nancy; Almarode, John
Learning Professional, v40 n5 p44-47 Oct 2019
How might the work of professional learning communities (PLCs) focus on the changes necessary to ensure that "all" students are engaged, inspired, and successful? The authors of this article developed five discussion questions that they believe allow educator teams to put equity front and center in their collaborative conversations (Fisher, Frey, Almarode, Flores, & Nagel, 2020): (1) Where are we going? (2) Where are we now? (3) How do we move learning forward? (4) What did we learn today? and (5) Who benefited and who did not benefit? In this article, they consider each of these questions and how PLCs and the students they serve can benefit from them.
