Wright, Tiffany; Smith, Nancy J.; Whitney, Erin
Journal of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, v3 n2 spec iss 2 Sum 2019
Equity is desirable in all aspects of our democracy. Public schools, in particular, are essential to that enterprislse. Unfortunately, lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) educators have often not experienced equity in our schools. Equity-oriented school leaders, however, can make schools more equitable for LGBT teachers while increasing student achievement. The research reported here examines LGBT teachers' perceptions of equity in their workplace--our schools--and, particularly, their sense of safety. Implications for equity-oriented school leaders are discussed.
