Because introductory economics courses must cover extensive amounts of material in relatively short periods of time, many instructors are de-emphasizing economic theory and using a problems approach. The Gross National Product is utilized by the author as a teaching model which presents many aspects of economic theory within a single conceptual framework. (DC)
