Agents of Hope: College and Career Readiness Consultation to Support Successful Transitions
Roach, Andrew T.
Journal of Educational and Psychological Consultation, v29 n3 p368-376 2019
College and career readiness (CCR) consultation represents an opportunity for consultants to improve transition outcomes for students with disabilities and underserved youth and young adults. This special issue of the "Journal of Educational and Psychological Consultation" includes articles that present novel applications of consultation across a variety of contexts (postsecondary education, employment) and populations (students with intellectual disabilities, adjudicated youth). This commentary presents national data to contextualize these articles, summarizes their key points, and suggests how CCR consultants can be "agents of hope" by focusing on promoting young people's self-determination and equity-focused systems change.
