Folk Art and the Harlem Renaissance
Bell, Bernard W.
Phylon, 36, 2, 155-163, Jun 75
This study of the shares thoughts of the elder statesmen of the Harlem Renaissance attempts to show that it is reasonable, on the basis of their training, travels and writings, to infer that DuBois, Locke and Johnson were in tune with both the folk spirit of their age and the spirit of Herder's ideas on the relationship between folk art and formal art.
