Within the new world perspective, it is expected that the school, as a formal education space, will be able to provide students with the basic information regarding human knowledge accumulated over the years, and also help them be capable of understanding various scientific and technological issues present today. In the specific case of knowledge in physics, one of the topics of great relevance is the generation and consequent use of electric energy. For developing scientific literacy and also to give an overall view of this content to the students, teachers must be able to present to them information related to generation, transformation, transfer, and the effective performance of the apparatus that makes use of this energy. This topic, however, is sometimes reduced to the representation of electric circuits, a lecture about Ohm's law, and talking about the Joule effect in conductors. Real discussions concerning daily contexts or phenomena, such as motors in this case, transformations of electric-to-internal and electric-to-mechanical energies and mechanical (fan)-to-mechanical (wind) transfer of energy, are full of potential for a conceptual learning of physics.
