Unlocking Your SPAW-tential
Medeiros, Sam
Communique, v47 n3 p1, 21 Nov 2018
School Psychology Awareness Week (SPAW) is November 12-18, and this year's theme is "Unlock Potential. Find Your Password!" The goal of the theme is to help people understand that, just like with passwords they use for their phone, real-world "passwords," such as specific skills, assets, or characteristics, can help one reach one's full potential. This article shares some easy last-minute ideas that include theme-based activities to be carried out during SPAW. Much of SPAW is focused on building- and district-level efforts to raise awareness. One activity discussed in detail is Virtual Hill Day--a day when school psychologists from across the country will be writing to their congressional leaders asking them to support legislation that addresses some of the issues that are most important to the profession, our schools, and our communities.
