Game On!--Teaching Video Game Studies in the Arts Classroom
Martyniuk, Stephanie Veronica
Art Education, v71 n3 p14-19 2018
In this article, the author discusses how video games can be studied in the Media Arts/Arts classroom in terms of their educational potential through three steps of visual literacy to effectively deconstruct a video game for critical thinking. She first looks at how games demonstrate visual representation; second, how games teach visual communication; and last, how games can bring about complex critical thinking in art students to allow them to create from their experiences by analyzing and playing video games.
