Education, v132 n1 p115-132 Fall 2011
The aim of the present study is to assess the Turkish teacher training process through academicians' views. Within the study which was structured as a survey, "Turkish Teacher Training Process Assessment Scale" prepared by the researcher was emailed to 193 academicians working in the education faculties in Turkey and the Turkish Republic Northern Cyprus and data were collected from 75 academicians. According to findings obtained in the study, a significant difference between academicians' views on Turkish teacher training was not observed in terms of academicians' gender, title and areas of doctoral specialization. However, it was determined that academicians' views on Turkish teacher training differed significantly in terms of seniority level, especially in the 11-15 years group. On the basis of research findings, recommendations which may contribute to improving the process of Turkish teacher training are provided.
