Teenage Attitudes towards Sexual Diversity in Spain
Moliner Miravet, Lidón; Francisco Amat, Andrea; Aguirre García-Carpintero, Arecia
Sex Education: Sexuality, Society and Learning, v18 n6 p689-704 2018
This article reports of findings from a study among Spanish school students, with the goal of examining homophobia as perceived and expressed in three different contexts: education, the family and socially. A survey on adolescence and sexual diversity was administered to 128 tenth-grade students in their 4th year of secondary school in Castellón, Spain. Data were analysed both descriptively and inferentially so as to reveal any similarities and differences by gender. Findings reveal relatively high levels of homophobic attitudes and the need for intervention at the school level. Suggestions are made about the best ways in which this might occur.
