A Science-Based Practitioner Model
Malott, Richard W.
Education and Treatment of Children, v41 n3 p371-384 2018
Most people with Ph.D. degrees in behavior analysis have been so strongly indoctrinated with the Boulder, scientist-practitioner model that they have a strong bias against a more straight-forward practitioner model. However, there has been concern that it is too difficult to receive adequate training in science and practice while earning a single Ph.D. degree. Furthermore, the data suggest that few scientist practitioners actually do scientific research; and they rarely make reference to the scientific literature in conducting their practice. Therefore, a science-based practitioner model is proposed.
