Issues in Property Education in Australian Universities
Parker, David
Educational Practice and Theory, v36 n2 p79-92 2014
The paper seeks to explore the hypothesis that property education in Australia may be at a crossroads, facing the demand for educated employees by the property industry in a post-Bradley Report environment while being rooted in the supply of trained employees for the property profession established in the pre-Bradley Report environment. Its approach is to synthesise and discuss the papers, transcripts and presentations given at a national symposium on the future of property education held at the University of South Australia. The hypothesis is found to be supported informally, with a misalignment identified between the requirements of the national professional body and existing property programs with the post-Bradley Report requirements of the broader property industry and senior management of Universities seeking to implement Federal Government education policy.
