Bas, Gökhan
Curriculum and Teaching, v29 n2 p61-77 2014
The main purpose of this study was to analyse curriculum design orientation preferences of Turkish teachers. 278 teachers working in elementary and high schools from Nigde province and its districts constituted the sample of the research. "Survey method" was employed in this research. The data of this research were collected by using the "Curriculum Design Orientations Preference Scale of Teachers". In order to analyse the data obtained, mean, standard deviation, and MANOVA analysis were used. The results of the study revealed that Turkish teachers had "high" level of learner-centred and problem-centred curriculum design orientation preferences. It was also seen in the study that whereas teachers had "high" level of learner-centred and problem-centred curriculum design orientation preferences, they had a "moderate" level of curriculum design orientation preference about subject-centred design. Also, it was found out that there was a statistical significant difference between teachers in terms of gender, occupational seniority, educational level, and school type variables. On the other hand, it was not found a statistical significant difference between teachers in relation to settlement place of school variable.
