Chalupa, Marilyn
Journal of Applied Research for Business Instruction, v13 n1 2015
Technology has and continues to transform communication channels. As a result, electronic communications has become ubiquitous in the workplace allowing for collaboration, cost reduction, and increased productivity. Social media tools allow for connecting to and interacting with a larger audience. The digital generation comes to the classroom already using these social media tools for personal use; therefore, a business communications course is the ideal place to address how to use those tools for work. The assignment described in this paper focuses on preparing an analytical report with recommendations for the implementation of various social media and other Web 2.0 tools in the workplace. The need for the assignment, learning objectives, work plan preparation, a rubric/checklist, and student feedback are shared.
