Chatoupis, Constantine
Journal of Physical Education, Recreation & Dance, v89 n3 p29-33 2018
In the divergent discovery style of teaching the teacher designs problems that engage students in finding multiple solutions. The purpose of this article is to show how physical educators can use the divergent discovery style in the gymnasium. A brief description of this style and its connection to the SHAPE America National Standards for K-12 Physical Education are presented, followed by guidelines for designing problems in specific activities. Also, a sample task sheet for use by students, as well as instructions for the effective use of this style, are presented.
