Adult Learning Degree and Career Pathways: Allusions to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs
Schulte, Marthann
Journal of Continuing Higher Education, v66 n1 p62-64 2018
This article explores the allusion possibilities for distance education career pathways and the well-known hierarchy of needs--a theory first introduced by American psychologist Abraham Maslow. A grounding concept learned by all Psychology 101 students in high school or college, Maslow's theory can provide a similar base for understanding, analyzing, and even embarking on career pathways. The author theorizes that students, teachers, and education administrators could benefit from the comparisons and the ease of using common figurative references.
