Regionalization: A Story Map Lesson on Regions
Geography Teacher, v15 n1 p36-38 2018
This lesson introduces the concept of regionalization and types of regions. After a brief introductory activity, students explore a story map to learn the material. The teacher can project the story map on a screen for all students to follow or students may work individually on computers. Working individually will allow students to set their own pace. Some can finish quickly while those who struggle can have additional help from the teacher. The application portion of the lesson will focus on the local area. At this point, teachers may want to substitute their own maps and locations. This lesson plan is targeted toward high school students and extends the length of two traditional 45-minute classes. A handout is included.
