Dr. Glenn Nierman, current Glenn Korff Chair of Music Education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, is the immediate past president of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) and a member of the board of directors of the International Society of Music Education (ISME). He has authored several journal articles, presented at NAfME National Conferences, and has given addresses at ISME World Congresses on five continents. Dr. Nierman has also served for seventeen years on the editorial board of the "Bulletin of the Council of Research in Music Education." Dr. Nierman has received various honors and awards including the recognition for Lowell Mason Fellow (2015), Washburn University Alumni Fellow (2012), Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching (1987), and receipt of the Steinhart Foundation Distinguished Endowed Professorship in Music Education (1998-2005). This article provides a transcript of an interview with Dr. Glenn Nierman and Joshua Long. Joshua Long, a Ph.D. candidate in Adult Education at The Pennsylvania State University, who holds degrees in band/wind ensemble conducting, music education, and euphonium performance, asks Dr. Nierman what he has learned from his perspective of utilizing a distance education platform to approach music education.
