Teaching for Transformation: Promoting Social Justice through Teaching: Interview with George Jacobs

George Jacobs has taught English as a Second Language (ESL) and Teacher Education in many countries, including the US, China and Thailand. Since 1993, he has taught in Singapore, teaching for institutions including SEAMEO Regional Language Centre, Ministry of Education, and the National Institute of Education. He has also been teaching Writing at James Cook University, Singapore since 2012. He has written widely on topics such as cooperative learning, extensive reading, environmental education, and humane education. In this interview, he recounts how he got into the profession, his interest in student-centered learning, and the future of education.
