The Imperative of Closing Racial and Ethnic Gaps in College Attainment
Kelly, Patrick; Torres Lugo, Sarah
Change: The Magazine of Higher Learning, v49 n5 p46-49 2017
More than half the states and their policymakers have set targets for increasing college attainment. Many of these targets can only be met through increasing attainment among the growing population groups that have traditionally not been well served in our colleges and universities. This article is an update on how well the nation and states have done over the past decade or so in increasing college attainment and closing the gaps. It highlights the percentage attainment of underrepresented minorities in each state, current gaps between whites and underrepresented minorities in the United States, and change over time.
