Schwehm, Jeremy S.
Community College Enterprise, v23 n1 p9-25 Spr 2017
The purpose of this quantitative study was to identify demographic variables and community college experiences that influence the academic and social adjustment process of adult vertical transfer students at the university. Data collected on adult vertical transfer student demographic information and community college experiences were examined in relation to university GPA, academic self-efficacy, and sense of belonging to the university. Study results showed three influential variables. First, a student's community college GPA was the most influential variable in predicting university GPA. Second, the level of perceived classroom involvement at the community college was the most influential variable in predicting academic self-efficacy at the university. Third, the level of classroom involvement at the community college was the most influential variable in predicting social adjustment at the university.
