Training FCS Educators to Incorporate Extension Curricula in the Classroom
Holland, Jacqueline M.; Coleman, LaTasha
Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences, v109 n3 p50-54 Sum 2017
The health and well-being of adolescents continue to be in jeopardy due to a lack of proper nutrition combined with a sedentary lifestyle. A collaborative effort between two Maryland entities, Prince Georges County Family and Consumer Sciences Department and the University of Maryland Expanded Food and Nutrition Program, involved a train-the-trainer model and demonstrated how it can have an impact on healthy lifestyle changes for secondary students. Exit surveys suggest a positive impact on FCS educators and their students. Advantages and challenges of the partnership along with recommendations are provided.
