Reprint 1987: Research Administration in a Time of Change
Brandt, Edward N.
Journal of Research Administration, v48 n1 p11-14 Spr 2017
The field of biomedical research has undergone several changes in recent years. These include increased funding, the rapid development in scientific knowledge which speeds up the obsolescence of equipment, facilities and knowledge and the growing complexity of scientific problems. Research administrators can take steps to address these changes such as encouraging interdisciplinary research, making optimum use of resources and developing accounting systems for resources. [This article, originally published in the Fall 1987 issue of the Society of Research Administrators International (SRAI) Journal and subsequently reprinted in Fall of 1997, is based on a presentation at the Northeast Section meeting of the Society of Research Administrators International in Baltimore, Maryland, May 1987.]
