Response to Intervention and Authentic Assessment
McCrary, Donna; Brown, David L.; Dyer-Sennette, Jennifer; Morton, Tami
Dimensions of Early Childhood, v45 n1 p30-38 2017
The brief description of a real child presented in this article highlights some of the obstacles faced by many children in the United States today, particularly those who come from low-income homes. There is an increasingly large chasm between the number of children who are on target for success in school and those who need extra help to close challenges in behavioral and academic development. Early intervention with children from less privileged socio-economic backgrounds can lead to long term success in education. This article outlines a detailed method of meeting these children at their skill level and giving them the attention they need to excel.
