The Challenge of Educating Principals: Linking Course Content to Action
Ärlestig, Helene
Planning and Changing, v43 n3-4 p309-321 2012
Effective integration of learning and practice continues to remain a challenge in leadership preparation. This paper describes a learning module used in a course within the Swedish National Principal Training Program and how it attempts to bridge learning with practice. In this course, each participant conducted a study in a school with the intention to examine authentic problems and situations as parts of their training. The empirical data were based on 148 reports and 35 reflection papers from participants. The learning model offered trainees opportunities to read about, discuss, and use policy, research and theory on current situations and problems.
