School and Moral Justice: The School Development Program as a Case Study
Comer, James P.
Journal of Research in Character Education, v9 n2 p91-106 2013
In this article, James P. Comer reflects on his work, informed by his research and practice in medicine, public health, psychiatry and child development, and in schools; but most heavily informed by his life experience as an African American male from a low income background, and his effort to understand his more fortunate outcome than that of childhood friends from what appeared to be similar backgrounds. The article then describes and explores the intervention program that grew out of the understanding and continuing effort to bring about more just conditions; and the moral justice implications for society.
