What Does Amazing Look Like? Illustrator Studies in Pre-Service Teacher Education
Fattal, Laura Felleman
Journal of Visual Literacy, v31 n2 p17-34 2012
Visual literacy is based on the idea that pictures communicate or can be "read," a more and more highly prized skill in our educational landscape. The outcomes of the pilot study conducted with undergraduate teacher candidates engaged in Illustrator Studies are analyzed to broach aesthetic concepts and explore creative teaching pathways in visual literacy for the elementary school classroom. The goal of the study and potential extensions of the pilot program are to build a repertoire of thoughtful and pragmatic pedagogical approaches towards Illustrator Studies and ways of thinking to further teaching and learning in visual literacy.
