Personalized Learning Environments and Effective School Library Programs
Easley, Michelle
Knowledge Quest, v45 n4 p16-23 Mar-Apr 2017
Personalized learning is defined as "tailoring learning for each student's strengths, needs, and interests--including enabling student voice and choice in what, how, when and where they learn-- to provide flexibility and supports to ensure mastery of the highest standards possible". Personalized learning offers school librarians a way to maximize learner achievement by meeting students where they are and allowing students to engage in experiences that support their learning. The classroom teacher is important in creating an environment that supports personalized learning, but an effective school library program is critical to sustaining this type of environment.
