Evidence & Policy: A Journal of Research, Debate and Practice, v11 n2 p149-168 May 2015
A pilot controlled before-and-after design was used to assess the impact of a new master-level course in evidence-informed policy making on students' basic knowledge in evidence-based practice. The primary outcome variable was the mean percentage of pre-post improvement on the knowledge test. In the treatment group, the mean percentage of pre-post improvement to the knowledge test was 36.9% (SD 27.5), compared to 11.3% (SD 19.1) in the control group composed of students exposed to the traditional graduate-level research methodology course in Political Science. However, the mean score on the post-test for the treatment group was only half of the maximum score.
