Analyzing FCS Professionals in Higher Education: A Case Study
Hall, Scott S.; Harden, Amy; Pucciarelli, Deanna L.
Journal of Family and Consumer Sciences, v108 n2 p38-47 2016
A national study of family and consumer sciences (FCS) professionals in higher education was analyzed as a case study to illustrate procedures useful for investigating issues related to FCS. The authors analyzed response rates of more than 1,900 FCS faculty and administrators by comparing those invited to participate and the 345 individuals who actually participated in the survey. American Association of Family & Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) membership also was considered in the analyses. Results indicated that women, administrators, and those affiliated with AAFCS-accredited programs responded at higher rates than would be expected. AAFCS membership was related to several characteristics of sample respondents.
