The Mentor inside You
Kerlin, Christine
College and University, v91 n4 p33-34, 36 Nov 2016
Mentoring occurs in formal and informal ways. While formal mentoring programs are valuable, the majority of people are likely to have opportunities for informal mentoring in their workplace and in their communities. The author makes the point that mentors are all around us, and each of us may have the capacity to mentor or to be mentored, whether clearly designated as such or not. To illustrate this point, the author describes how a few individuals served as unacknowledged mentors to her, and offers suggestions for how to advise and guide others in a mentoring capacity.
